Chart of God's Own Surgeon

by Victor Olliver

Vincent Fuller is a special healer – and a new book on him claims he works directly with God. What does astrology say?

BookThere is at least one incontestable truth in new book release The Hand of God: The Extraordinary Life of Vincent Fuller by Christopher Charles: Mr Fuller’s life is extraordinary. He is not just a trance medium and spiritual healer/psychic surgeon, who anecdotally has cured many people of serious illnesses, but also the ‘Hand of God’, claiming to be a healing avatar of the creator. While I have no personal experience of Fuller and so must remain agnostic for now on the nature of his gifts and perspectives, I do know the author – one of life’s questioners and sceptics with a long history of conducting exhaustive research on paranormal healing. He is not easily swayed and retains an open but interested mind on Fuller.

How does such an extraordinary life get expressed in a nativity? Is there a horoscopic signature for a ‘divine healing instrument’?

But before we get to the astrology: who is Vincent Fuller? We are told that he is the “least spiritual person I have met” by the author: “He has tattoos, a nose stud, swears, drinks,” etc, and is a former car windscreen fitter, among other things. If Jesus (who thuggishly tore through the Temple with a whip of cords) was a carpenter or stone mason, depending on how the Greek work ‘tekton’ is translated for Christ’s trade, then Fuller’s lifestyle choices are not so discordant with spirituality.

Born between 9 and 10 pm on 5 May 1972 in Reading (UK) to a poor, working-class family with no religious or mystical affiliations, Fuller saw and heard the ‘dead’ from a very early age. In adulthood he worked his way through platform work in Spiritualist churches as a medium, developing all the while his gift for spirit healing, and later, advanced psychic surgery. We learn of spirit entities who guided him, a Simon and a Dr Charles, both of whom permit glimpses of the afterlife.

Vincent FullerFuller now runs The Healing Centre website where details of his range of psychic gifts and services can be found.

His work has already attracted the attention of newspapers. In 2014, a MailOnline report on psychic surgery included the case of Barbara Phoenix (her story is told in greater detail in Hand of God) who says Fuller cured her of the painful condition fibromyalgia. After a healing session with him, “My pain disappeared and hasn’t returned since,” she told the Daily Mail’s website. ‘…I’m so grateful for what he’s done for me. It feels like a miracle.’” Many other amazing testimonials of cure are included in the book, all of them seemingly credible.

At the back of the book is the pièce de résistance: interviews with God (known as Joshua in communications through Fuller). One senses that this section alone could make a separate book – and as for credibility, that’s a matter for each reader. Put it this way: if I found myself astonished, I also had to remind myself of how some people react when I tell them I’m an astrologer.

Now, to Vincent Fuller’s chart. Precise clock-time is not known. His mother says he was born between 9-10 pm, so Scorpio or Sagittarius was rising. Probably Scorpio, based on certain biographical details and Christopher Charles’ comment to me that, “It takes time for him [Fuller] to trust you and take you into his confidence”. The time given is only an approximation. Planet of spirituality and healing Neptune rises (as it would at any time within the birth hour range); Taurus Sun is in house of health (6th) and MC is in Virgo, the sign associated with the 6th.

Asteroid users should note Hygeia, named after the Greek goddess of health, daughter of Asclepius (god of medicine), associated by some astrologers with psychic and/or holistic wellbeing, which is in the 12th house, domain of healing gifts and spiritual energy. Hygeia’s placement in Scorpio is especially pertinent: transformative ruler Pluto (ruler also of what “lies below the surface”) describes the nature of Fuller’s psychic surgery: it’s called “quantum mediumship” on his site because this form of healing “alters (transforms) matter at a cellular level (beneath the surface of skin)”. (Words in brackets mine.)

Vincent Fuller chartThe Neptune-Saturn opposition establishes tension between what’s real and unreal or illusory: the house positions identify potential conflict between the educative but nebulous quality of Neptune in Sagittarius and the sceptical-rationalist response of Saturn in the 7th in Gemini. At another level, the aspect captures Fuller’s own struggles to find the truest expression of his gifts, as recounted in his biography.

For a comparative analysis of Fuller’s chart and the nativities of those like him, I am indebted to one of Australia’s leading astrologers, Pamela Rowe, for the work she’s done on the astrology of “gifted psychics”.i Among her many subjects are Edgar Cayce and St Bernadette, and she reports to have found “some surprising astrological combinations” among them. There isn’t space to explore these in detail, so what I have done is to take her list of six “dominant features of the psychic horoscope” and see how Fuller measures up. In the list below, I have lifted Rowe’s observation, and then placed my own comment in bold on Fuller in brackets.

  1. Planetary patterns of high sensitivity and receptivity involving Neptune (sensitivity).
(Fuller has Neptune rising, albeit in a dissociate sign, which blurs ideas of ‘reality’, opening the mind to creative and other-dimension perceptions.)
  2. Dynamic high-powered energy patterns involving Mars and often Pluto (power).
(Fuller has a Mars-Pluto square: dynamic certainly but also indicative of abuse. When Fuller launched a YouTube channel to promote his work, he was trolled mercilessly. Mars is in the 7th [Equal].) Mars and Pluto are also chart co-rulers if Scorpio rises.)
  3. Patterns of control and direction involving Saturn (channelling).
(Saturn’s opposition to Neptune and trine to Moon in Aquarius links ‘truth’ to spiritual perceptions and the instinctive, eternal or cyclic – the Moon mediates between the inner and outer worlds. Moon is ruled by Uranus [or Saturn in traditional astrology] – see 5th point below.)
  4. Deep and often complex love patterns involving Venus (love).
(Venus rules Fuller’s Sun; and his Gemini Venus-Mars conjunction squares Pluto in Virgo, a sure sign of ‘complexity’ in matters to do with ‘love’ – cosmic or otherwise. Intensity, secrecy, high passion and manipulation may also be expressed as spiritual transformation or consciousness, given that Pluto drives whatever lies below the surface and tends to disrupt or transform in the process of perfecting.)
  5. Strongly placed position of Uranus, the planet associated with sudden, unusual phenomena (unusual).
(Uranus is strengthened by accidental dignity in the 11th, the house associated with Aquarius, trine Moon in Aquarius. In short, he’s primed for esoteric or ‘maverick’ energies.)
  6. Dominant emphasis of one or two of the elements, that is Fire, Earth, Air or Water (focus).
(Of the 23 celestials and points in Fuller’s chart, 17 are in Earth and Air [almost 74% chart dominance] and only six in Fire and Water [26%]).

Within the confines of this research alone, Fuller passes easily as a “gifted psychic”. But, of course, a much wider astrological study is required to confirm the signatures of this category.

The Hand of God is certainly a challenging book but no less fascinating for that. Free of sensationalism and mystical jargon, it tells matter-of-factly a story that many will find a lot stranger than fiction.
