Lilith - Black Moon: A Golden Ally in the Astrological Interpretation

Abstract - Introduction

In this conference paper I shall discuss the important role played by Lilith-Dark Moon in our astrological analyses. I have researched the effects of Lilith-Dark Moon for many years; I now regularly include the study of Lilith-Dark Moon in my daily astrological practice. First of all, I shall consider Lilith from the astronomical viewpoint following the guidelines of the Swiss astronomer and astrologer Dieter Koch. Secondly, I shall look at the importance of Lilith-Dark Moon from the psychoanalytical approach of the French psychologist Philippe Grangier. Thirdly, I shall examine many astrological examples of celebrities’ birth-charts and events, focusing on Lilith-Dark Moon in Signs and Houses; Lilith in Conjunction with Horoscope’s Planets, in particular with Uranus, Neptune, Pluto; Lilith in Synastry; Lilith-Dark Moon Transits.

In my view, it is important to consider Lilith-Dark Moon’s role in a wider sense: not only as a symbol of feminine empowerment and transformation, but also as a useful indicator of our unfulfilled wishes, lacks and areas of our lives which need to be more carefully addressed.    

The Astronomical Lilith

From an astronomical point of view, the definition of Lilith is as mysterious as Lilith itself. It is the same difficulty we experience with Pluto, although in different astronomical terms. They are both planetary ‘characters’ who wear a mask: they hide, and they don't want us to know exactly where they are.

The Swiss Dieter Koch (born 1959) has calculated, in my opinion, the most valid Ephemeris of the position of Lilith, carefully analyzing all the past and current theories in this regard.

It is known that the hypothesis of a second satellite of the Earth, which would have been seen by Abbot Riccioli, around 1630, with an orbit of about 3° per day, cannot be proved today. Astronomers would have discovered it long ago. We must therefore start from the assumption that the Moon has an elliptical path, whose two focal points are identified by the Earth (First Focus) and by a Second Focus that some have identified with Lilith / Black Moon, understood as a point of maximum proximity to the Lunar Apogee. Others have deduced a middle point, a ‘mean’. But it must be borne in mind that the elliptical path of the Moon is not at all regular nor geometrically harmonious.

Koch calculated the shifts forward of the Apsides (a term that includes both Perigee and Lunar Apogee) considering them as the points towards which the Moon is directed under the influences deriving from Sun, Earth, Planets.

However, each of us can use our own Ephemerides, provided we take into account an orbit of validity for Lilith's position. In the software that we commonly use, for example, an average position of the Lunar Apogee has been inserted.

Apsides: 1) Apoapsis; 2) Periapsis; 3) Focus of the ellipse. Since the Lunar movement is elliptical, within it one of the focal points is the Earth, the other one is Lilith - Dark Moon, whose position is calculated taking into account the farthest point (Apogee) and the nearest one (Perigee).   The position of the Lunar Apogee currently used is perfectly useful in practice, having been adopted for several decades. I advise those who have never used Lilith in their astrological consultations to start inserting it in their charts, and observing it, leaving their interpretive talent free to observe the influences wherever Lilith itself suggests to do so. Lilith-Dark Moon moves along the Zodiac in 8 years and 10 months (a complete revolution takes 8 years and 10 months), at about 40° per year.  

Mythological-religious concept

According to the Torah, the Jewish Holy book, Adam was first a companion of Lilith, a strange female creature with an independent soul, who did not like having sex with her partner in an inferior position. She was replaced with Eve, created by the rib of Adam. Lilith escapes in the deserts of Babylon where she marries the king of the devils, Asmodeus;  since then she gives birth to a thousand devils a day, in addition to devoting herself to intense activity of disturbance and destruction of human life, especially of children (a model of obscurity antelitteram). References to Lilith are frequent in Jewish literature (see the works of Isaac Bashevis Singer) and in biblical narratives relating to the Queen of Sheba.

Psychoanalytic concept

With regard to the symbolic concept of Lilith/Dark Moon, I agree with the French psychoanalyst Philippe Grangier (1942-1973, psychologist, professor of Psychology at the University and astrologer)  who has identified in this stellar archetype the concept of Desire, and of Regret that characterizes it. It should be analysed at the level of the 'Original Loss', the expulsion from the Garden of Eden/Earthly Paradise, of the individual splitting where the Object becomes necessary, indispensable. This absence intervenes when Man, and therefore each of us, is born, already doomed to die, attached to the only paradise of which we can retain memory, the fetal life. The desire/regret then may concern the return to the maternal breast or to the uterine rest. It is the 'unknown Essence' by Paul Valéry, the 'Acorn ' by James Hillman.  I propose to give a value to Lilith/Dark Moon also in Karmic Astrology, where it could represent the regret for something that we did not carry out in the proper way, which afflicts us in this incarnation precisely because it was not achieved in our previous life experiences.

The absence, the regret, the desire represented by Lilith never coincide with Death. It is suffering because it identifies with the desire, but it coincides with that part of death that allows us to keep ourselves alive. It is a non-place, the un-said, a concept that cannot be formulated nor psychically/psychologically represented. A kind of Great Absent, considering that what we long for hopelessly is the precise identity of our desires. In this sense, Lilith/Dark Moon can be connected to:

Remorse, Regret, Nostalgia, Deprivation, Relics, Scars, Memories, Unfulfilled wishes, Negative experiences

If we examine our natal chart looking at Lilith/Dark Moon as ‘absence’ or ‘lack’ of something we find immediately interesting connections both on a practical level and on a deeper, spiritual/unconscious level. The physical aspect (which is often not taken into account) should not be neglected.

In this sense, Lilith in Cancer may symbolize duodenal ulcer, Lilith in Scorpio nocturnal enuresis, Lilith in Aquarius weakness of the ankles, and so on. I have noticed that the transits of Lilith/Dark Moon on the planets of femininity often coincide with the menarche, the first female menstruation, as well as some bleeding (hemorrhage) or signs of menopause. I therefore consider Lilith/Dark Moon as a valuable ally from an interpretive viewpoint, helpful to identify some of our shortcomings and recognize that which we have been, that which we would like to be/to have and that which we will hardly become.

At the collective level, Lilith can focus on the Collective Unconscious and may cause those social happenings that shock the communities, and create events on the model of Clockwork Orange or those political murders that change the destiny of a country.

Experience has taught me that in most cases the conjunctions of Lilith to the birth planets, and the oppositions (both in the birth chart and transits), work very well.

I have always felt a special interest in this marginalized She-devil, suspected of the greatest offences, driven from the Earthly Paradise/Garden of Eden for her courage in wanting to assert her sexual equality with the masculine Adam. Always subjected to incredible gossip. I started researching Lilith many years ago. Today I always include the study of Lilith in the chart of people whom I analyze.  

People born with Lilith in conjunction to another planet tend to fill their absence with the presence of the planet itself. To give one example, the case of tenor Luciano Pavarotti, characterized by a conjunction Lilith/Neptune in the second House, which symbolizes the binge-eating that caused him serious weight problems.

The astral chart of the famous football player Diego Armando Maradona shows a conjunction Lilith/Mars, a position that has a strong link to sport and, being in the ninth House, to difficult away matches against the European football teams.

The charts of many sensual and sexy women and actresses often show a conjunction of Lilith to Mars and/or Uranus, sexually aggressive planets. If Lilith joins the Sun, the evolutionary path goes through the annulment of herself. If Lilith joins the Moon the Female bears the scars and the marks of a distant past, and her own much talked-about reputation. With Mercury, brothers, sisters and children constitute an evolutionary path of slow improvements and personal growth. The conjunction with Venus says that love can be of help in overcoming difficult previous experiences. With Mars there is a sign of old frustrated aggression. With Jupiter: they have ignored some rules (and it does not necessarily mean that these rules are carefully followed in the present life...); with Saturn, Destiny shows the way; with Uranus the Unexpected and transgression are the rule; with Neptune the Escape in other worlds allows you to escape reality; with Pluto, the risks and negative consequences of Power are highlighted.

The point/position on the birth chart and the House where Lilith transits often indicates the question that worries us at that particular moment in our lives.

I find the use of Lilith in Synastry particularly stimulating. If Lilith overlaps with an important planet of the partner it creates a bond that is difficult to cut. They are those couples who suffer less from staying together rather than splitting. There is a very deep connection between the partners: the void, the feeling of emptiness, the lack characterized by Lilith are filled by the planet of the partner. In the case of Prince Charles and Lady Diana for example, she inserts Lilith on her former husband’s Pluto. Even if Lady Diana is no longer alive, the two of them will be bound by a strong Plutonian bond forever. Other times the vibrations of Lilith's of one partner on the planet Mars of the other partner may create a very strong emotional and sexual involvement.

Lilith at the ascendant determines in certain cases charisma and success in the relationship with public and public life. In other cases, it shows - as in the fourth House - some regrets relating to the family of origin. In the third House, Lilith indicates regrets for incomplete studies; in the fifth House, in female astral charts, difficulties with motherhood.

The position of Lilith may indicate inclination towards homosexuality. Let us consider for example the theme of the famous Italian film-director Franco Zeffirelli.  Zeffirelli has Lilith joint to Mars in the eleventh House. Even in female themes Lilith may indicate, in that position, female’s courting.

I always recommend to my astrology students to perform a simple exercise: first of all to verify the events corresponding to the transits of Lilith on the Sun, Moon, and on the main planets of their birth-chart. The study of the transit of Lilith on our natal Lilith is always very useful, making it possible to clarify some events otherwise very difficult to explain.

Let us now look at some examples of Lilith's position in the twelve Zodiac Signs.

Aries

The famous singer Andrea Bocelli, Virgo with Virgo rising, and with a splendid trine in the signs of Earth, has Lilith in his eighth House in Aries. It is a warning sign about the financial future of his life, albeit considering that the cusp of the eighth House is ruled by Mars in a good position. His first wife could demand too much from him (applying the astrological technique of the Derived Houses).

Albert II, Prince of Monaco, ruler of a very small principality in the south of France, is Pisces with Ascendant Gemini; he has a conjunction Mercury/Lilith which manifested itself through its stuttering in public and the gossip generated by his three illegitimate children, two of  them from a former French-Togolese flight attendant.

Taurus

The famous Canadian singer Céline Dion, Aries Ascendant Leo, has Lilith in the eleventh House in Taurus. For years she paid with her earnings the conspicuous debts her husband piled up. Following the Derivative Houses: the Eleventh House is the Second of the Tenth: income from profession vanished!

Felipe VI King of Spain, Aquarius with Taurus rising, has Lilith at his Ascendant, indicating not only his personal charisma but also the unpleasant gossip about his father Juan Carlos (who was forced to abdicate the throne before time). Felipe’s fifth House (that is, the horoscopic House closely connected with his role as a King) is quite difficult from an astrological viewpoint, and there is no guarantee that his future will be free and uncomplicated.

Gemini

The late lamented Brazilian racing driver Ayrton Senna, Aries with Aquarius Ascendant, widely regarded as one of the greatest Formula One drivers of all time, died in an accident while leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. In his astral chart, in addition to a strong conflict Mars/Uranus we notice Lilith in the fifth House in Gemini, the zodiac sign associated with speed, as a warning sign.

The comic actor and film director Charlie Chaplin (born just four days before Adolf Hitler), Aries with Scorpio rising, had Lilith in his eighth House in Gemini. When he moved to Switzerland from the USA, he lost much of his assets. After his death, Chaplin's coffin was dug up and stolen from its grave and the body was held for ransom in an attempt to extort money. Lilith indicates that event from an astrological perspective.

Cancer

The famous film actor Antonio Banderas, Leo with ascendant Pisces, has Lilith in Cancer in the fifth House: an astrological clue for the male son he badly wanted and was not possible to have. His Jupiter near the Medium Coeli is splendid, trine to the conjunction Sun/Uranus in Leo.

Jimi Hendrix, the American guitarist, a mighty legend in the history of rock music,  is Sagittarius ascendant Sagittarius. He has a very complex horoscope. Hendrix would often become violent when he drank too much alcohol or when he mixed alcohol with drugs. Lilith in Cancer in his seventh House does include difficulties in personal and social relations and life as a couple.

Leo

Elvis Presley, one of the biggest names in rock’n roll in the mid-Fifties and still one of the world’s most popular music icons, is Capricorn with Moon in Pisces. His birth- chart is characterized by Lilith in Leo very close to the cusp of the ninth House, indicating his innate rejection of long journeys. He did his military service in Germany, but with the passing of time Elvis became more and more isolated in his Memphis home called ‘Graceland’ (his legendary residence now open to the public); the star was battling with weight problems, feeding on a frightening amount of psychotropic drugs and leading a destructive lifestyle. The astrological explanation is his Neptune exiled in Virgo; Presley was hospitalized for drug-related health problems.

Christopher Reeve, the actor who played Superman, kept his strength intact even when, after being thrown from a horse, he remained paraplegic, and had to use a wheelchair and needed a ventilator to breath for the rest of his life. Notice the conjunction Pluto / Lilith / Ascendant, capable of transmitting power and an extraordinary charisma.  Reeve lobbied on behalf of people with spinal cord injuries and founded the Christopher Reeve Foundation.

Virgo

The beautiful Princess Sissi, unhappy wife of Emperor Franz Joseph, was Capricorn Ascendant Virgo, with a sad conjunction Saturn / Moon in Scorpio. She led a tragic life and this shows up in her astral chart. She had Lilith in Twelfth House: she suffered for the reactions of the peoples ruled by her husband, in Italy as well as in Hungary. As soon as she stayed for some time in Vienna, she fell ill with lungs, a psychosomatic illness. She travelled throughout Europe in order to escape the rigid court protocol, but she always took her psychological problems with her. She also suffered from anorexia. Eventually, she was murdered: an Italian anarchist stabbed her in her heart.

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, author of the best seller ‘The Little Prince’, was a great pilot. He also died in an accident: he disappeared in July 1944 while flying over occupied France during World War II, leading to speculation over the cause of his death that persists to the present day (the remains were found only recently).

He was Cancer with Virgo Ascendant: a strong opposition to Mars / Uranus. Lilith in the first House probably expresses the fact that his father died when he was a very young boy, at the age of four.

Libra

Coco Chanel, the famous fashion designer, offers me the opportunity to point out that those born with Lilith near Medium Coeli are never fully satisfied with their career and the results obtained. Leo with Moon in Pisces, she called her iconic fragrance Chanel n. 5 precisely as a tribute to the Zodiac sign of Leo to which she belonged.

Another famous fashion designer, Yves Saint Laurent, a Leo with Ascendant Aquarius and Jupiter at Medium Coeli, has Lilith in the eighth House, to show the financial hardships he crossed before reaching celebrity. Note also the position of the Moon: image and personal reputation injured by Mars and Pluto in Cancer. (He was known to be both a heavy drinker and a frequent user of cocaine).

Scorpio

Jack Nicholson, the American actor born around the same time as Saddam Hussein, the ruler of Iraq (Nicholson was born in Neptune City, New Jersey on 22 April 1937; Saddam on 28 April 1937 in Tikrit – Iraq), is Leo Sun, Ascendant Leo, with the Moon in Third House opposite Saturn. Only recently did he discover that he was not his mother's son. Jack Nicholson’s nineteen-year-old sister was actually his mother! Note Lilith in Scorpio (obscure legacy, dark family secrets) conflicting with Mercury (sister).

He learned of a secret that had been kept for decades, and only revealed to him at the age of 37. In 1974 he discovered his mother, Ethel May Nicholson, wasn’t his mother. Nicholson’s mother was actually June, the woman he believed was his sister. His true mother’s identity came out of the blue. Perhaps ironically, Nicholson was informed via a reporter for TIME magazine, who had uncovered the details whilst undertaking research for a cover story.

Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy is the last heir of the Italian Royal House Savoy. He is the grandson of the last King of Italy. His grandfather Umberto II lost his throne following the referendum in favour of the Italian Republic and went into exile. Emanuele was born in Switzerland in 1972, and was allowed to visit Italy for the first time in 2002. Cancer Ascendant Leo he expresses the loss of the throne through the Moon / Lilith conjunction in Scorpio in the fourth House. He would like to be an actor and showman, and appears to be uncomfortable with his role as Prince with no future crown.

Sagittarius

Napoleon Bonaparte, an extraordinary historical figure, was Leo, Ascendant Scorpio, with a remarkable Trine formed by three Earth signs on his birth chart. Lilith in his second House in Sagittarius shows his indifference towards money and expenses, as it is often the case with people with this configuration. His Sagittarius position advised against his wanting to expand borders: the Russian campaign in 1812 was fatal to him, a turning point in his military career. It was the greatest and bloodiest of the Napoleonic campaigns. The reputation of Napoleon was severely shaken, and French hegemony in Europe was dramatically weakened.

Bill Clinton, former president of the United States, is a Leo strongly characterized by a stellium in Libra in his first House, and shows Lilith in third House. He was born in the State of Arkansas (where several episodes of racial segregation took places in the mid-Fifties), Clinton probably suffered from not being able to follow in his early years an elite schooling path, and he is certainly not proud of the relatives who remained in his native place. (His stepfather was a gambler and an alcoholic who regularly abused his mother and half-brother).

Capricorn

In my experience, Lilith's position in Capricorn is always insidious.

In the case of the Austrian-American actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger, a tenacious Leo with a formidable Trine in Water signs, Lilith placed at the Descendant of his birth chart shows his divorce in 2011 after his having conceived a child with his housekeeper. Schwarzenegger and his former wife Maria Shiver, a member of the Kennedy family, were married for over 25 years.

Schwarzenegger started his career as a bodybuilder, became the Governor of California. Behind closed doors, his private life is not so spotless and he is far from being a picture-perfect family man. From allegedly harassing women to the bombshell secret that destroyed his marriage there are a few dark areas in his life (as shown on his chart).

Jackie Kennedy’s chart is characterized by a splendid Trine of Fire at birth. The widow of John Fitzgerald Kennedy and wife of Onassis, has Lilith in her second House: this position confirms her financial greed.

In this regard it suffices to recall the munificent allowance that her father-in-law offered to pay her so that she would not divorce her husband President of the United States.  A strong interest in her financial security guided her in accepting the marriage proposal by Aristotle Onassis, the wealthy Greek shipping magnate.

Aquarius

Princess Caroline of Monaco, the elder sister of Prince Albert II (whom we discussed earlier), is Aquarius Ascendant Pisces. She has Lilith in the twelfth House, preceded by the Sun. Her personal relationships have all ended badly: with Philippe Junot (the Catholic church declared null their marriage that lasted only 2 years), with her much loved husband Stefano Casiraghi killed in a speed-boating accident, with the German prince Ernst of Hanover, from whom she has separated (not yet divorced). Note the hard conflict Sun / Uranus in her chart.

The famous American astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first person to walk on the moon. Leo Ascendant Gemini, with Lilith not far from the Medium Coeli. Looking at his birth-chart we discover that he was not satisfied with his life: he probably expected better financial rewards from his famous lunar experiment. Note also the conflict Jupiter / Saturn between the Second and Eighth House.

It is said that the Armstrong could not afford to pay for a satisfactory life insurance before his Mission. So about a month before he was set to go to the Moon, Armstrong got busy providing for his family the only way he could think of: he signed hundreds of autographs on envelopes emblazoned with various space-related images. The 'covers' would, of course, become intensely valuable should he perish on the Mission. These autographs are now often referred to as “Apollo Insurance Covers”.

Pisces

The Hollywood actor James Dean is a symbol of the confused, restless, and idealistic youth of the 1950s epitomized in his most notable movie Rebel without a cause. Aquarius Ascendant Aries, Dean presents Lilith in the Twelfth House: the horoscopic position of a person incapable of leading a serene daily life, in conflict with neighboring people, colleagues, the world (and he himself). Note the conflict of Lilith in Neptune exiled in Virgo, sign of his excesses.

He was just 24-years-old when he died in a fatal car accident when his Porsche crashed in California. His death cemented his place as an icon but there were a few strange episodes related as ‘the curse’ following his death. Soon strange incidents and coincidences were being reported concerning his Porsche car (which he had nicknamed ‘Little Bastard’). Some of its parts were sold off individually but strange things happened to people who bought them. The engine was sold to a doctor who was killed in a crash the first time he used it. Another driver was injured when two tires he had purchased from the car blew out simultaneously. The driver of the truck transporting the shell skid off the road and was killed.)

l conclude with the Tokyo Stock Exchange: in its astral chart, Lilith in the ninth House in Pisces expresses the difficulties of a country that in those days had just emerged from its perfect isolation, and tried hard to face the modern world. Even the Moon/Neptune conflict between Scorpio and Taurus testifies to it: traditions are difficult to be updated.

I would now like to show you three remarkable examples of Transits of Lilith/Dark Moon.

The tragic death of John John Kennedy

Charming, the only son of the most beloved American President, John John Kennedy was much envied and perhaps not considered as talented and charismatic as his father. 

Sagittarius with the isolated Sun, with Pluto at the Ascendant (that is, Power coming from his paternal line), his theme is characterized by a strong conflict between Mars joined to Lilith in Cancer and the Venus / Saturn conjunction in Capricorn in exact opposition.

Late in the evening of July 16th 1999, the plane he himself was flying crashed during a storm, and he died with his wife Carolyn Bessette. Note Lilith exactly placed on the Sun and very close to Pluto. The Sun was also joined to Lilith.

His sister Caroline Kennedy, Sagittarius with an ominous closeness between Saturn and Mercury to the Ascendant, in her natal chart had Lilith in the third House in Pisces, perhaps an astrological warning of her brother’s future death. Observing the transit in that dramatic evening of the plane-crash, we see that his sister Caroline, too, has Pluto and Lilith on the Sun and Uranus at the degree on the Moon.

Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski

In 1969 the two movie actors had recently married, and she was pregnant.

Sharon Tate was a beautiful Aquarius with a conjunction Jupiter / Lilith on the Ascendant in the sign of motherhood, Cancer. She had a splendid Trine of Air. Venus in the eighth House would indicate a sudden death. We know that on the evening of August 9, 1969, four members of the Manson Family, a group led by Scorpio Charles Manson, broke into the home of the couple in Los Angeles. Sharon was having dinner with friends, whilst Polanski was away filming in Europe. She was murdered with the child she was carrying, she was eight and a half months pregnant. The transits indicate Moon and Lilith on her Lilith and natal Jupiter, to symbolize that tragic moment and the double sacrifice of mother and child.

Roman Polanski, Sharon’s husband, was not present: Leo Ascendant Libra, he was born with Lilith in his ninth House in Gemini (often a hint of unpleasant media coverage). On that tragic evening Venus, Moon and Lilith were placed between his ninth and tenth House, Mars very close to the third House (imminent media uproar), Saturn between the seventh and eighth House.

The Integrated Theme between the two partners is Scorpio Ascendant Libra, with a strong conflict between the third and the ninth House and Lilith in the eleventh House in Cancer, opposite the fifth. On that fateful evening the transit on the Integrated Theme shows Saturn in the ninth House in conflict with Mercury and Sun and Lilith accompanies the Moon just transited on Lilith of the Integrated Theme. Uranus and Jupiter complete the astral chart, opposed to Saturn in the eighth House.

Charles Manson, the notorious criminal and cult leader who directed his followers to commit that string of brutal murders (also referred to as ‘the Tate murders’), has four planets in his seventh House in Scorpio, angular Uranus at the Ascendant and Lilith in the twelfth House in Cancer (frustration for not having children?). In the Integrated Theme with Roman Polanski, Manson shows Lilith and Pluto in the twelfth House in Cancer. In addition to Venus opposed to the conjunction Uranus /Moon. The transit on that tragic evening shows an exact overlapping of Lilith on Lilith of the Integrated Theme, in addition to Uranus and Jupiter between Mars and Sun.

Maria Callas

The beautiful singer had a life full of drama, well illustrated in the book Greek Fire, written by Nicholas Cage.

Sagittarius with Scorpio Ascendant, Maria was born with Lilith in her sixth House in Taurus: when she arrived in Italy from the United States, she only had the dress she was wearing. Note her Moon in Libra followed by Saturn: she was known for her difficult temperament. Let us examine the transits of the most significant events of her life. After having enjoyed great success in the opera houses all over the world, she accepted with her much older husband Giovambattista Meneghini the invitation of Onassis for a cruise. The transit of the departure time is revealing: Lilith on Uranus at the Imum Coeli (Fourth House) and Saturn very close to the Sun indicate the change in her life: from a heavy-built and not particularly attractive woman she turned into an elegant swan. Soon she fell right through the arms of the Greek seducer Onassis.

Few people know that on March 30, 1960 at 8 a.m in Milan Maria gave birth to a son of Onassis: a still-born child. The Moon transited on her natal Lilith, while the transit of Lilith opposed Mercury (son).

We still find Lilith in the seventh House dissonant with the Sun when Onassis married Jackie Kennedy, in addition to the Sun on Saturn, Mars opposite Uranus and Saturn opposite the Moon.

Conclusions

I would like to conclude my paper with a few lines written by Primo Levi, an important Italian Jewish writer and holocaust witness. Levi learned of Lilith in Auschwitz from another inmate. He dedicated to Lilith a beautiful poem and I would like to share with you some of his words.

Lilith lives in the middle of the undertow,
But emerges at the new Moon
And flies restless through the snowy nights,
Irresolute between earth and sky.

In my view, these words beautifully capture the enigmatic and ever-challenging Essence of Lilith, a Dark Moon which constantly sheds light on the dark areas of our inner lives and calls for further investigation.
