Her presence felt yet rarely embodied; her wisdom offering insight and a fresh perspective on deeply felt matters; never one to seek acknowledgement or acclaim, this spirit guide presence within your cosmic consciousness serves to plant liminal ideals in your mental body to enable you to unite heaven with earth.

Discovered on the 15th of February 1997, she is the largest known Centaur, orbiting just outside that of Saturn yet extending beyond Uranus’ perihelion, with whom she is a steady 4:3 orbital resonance, generating a tone akin to the 4th in contemporary musical theory. Unlike her fellow Centaurs, she is less likely to journey beyond this solar system and her presence enables humanity to access the MerKaBa field, as demonstrated by the rare appearance of a Star of David, or Grand Hexagram configuration within her discovery moment.

Named two and a half years after her discovery, her name literally means Graceful spinner, which has generated some key words for her astrological profile, including the bestowing of grace and to untangle the knots created by karma within our terrestrial psyches.

Astronomy

Her orbit is close to 63 years, as she elliptically moves between Saturn and just ever so beyond the orbit of Uranus. Unlike her counterpart, Chiron, she does not break through the orbit of Saturn and therefore suggests that her meaning is not an embodied one.

She is closest to the orbit of Saturn, therefore the Earth, when she moves through Virgo and Libra, through which she moves quickly. She spends a long time within the Piscean and Arian realms when she grazes over the Uranian orbital boundary. This therefore suggests that she needs humanity to look at the heart-felt exchange of the unbridled spirit, since she is sojourning longest within the Mutable Water and Cardinal Fire realms. For me that seems to indicate that she is bringing a deeper insight into the scripts and patterns that hinder the free flowing expression of liminal and imaginal consciousness between two people, as well as opening up the pathway to bring, without mitigation or compromise, the innocent zealousness of impassioned spirit.

Since she does not linger in Virgo or Libra, it is akin to the fact that she is naturally attuned to the intelligence of nature and the aptitude to create a note from heaven. Therefore I would expect her signature to arise in those attuned to earth mysteries, earth wisdom, the practise of mantras and chanting, as well as the healing qualities of the feminine – a state of being that does not seek acknowledgement or accolades; a state that hovers subtly in the liminal space, or the shadowlands, telepathically communicating through the heart and mind’s eye.

She is in a perfect 4:3 ratio with the orbit of Uranus, a frequency that is expressed in music as a perfect fourth, an MAJOR interval commonly associated with the feeling of serenity, angelicness and lightness.

She exhibits a deep red colour by radio spectroscopy and like Saturn, she is contained by a single ray of rings, the only known Centaur to have them. Rings speak of a self-containment of the meaning within the archetype, and therefore the ability to stand free and alone.

Located at 6 degree of Fixed Fire, her presence within the Fixed Mode suggests at the liminal and interior quality of her medicine. She is to make aware the inner vision that struggles to express itself, through the healing of the exchange of heart-sentiment between heaven and psyche, as well as encouraging the free expression of vision, by trusting your own inner vision.

Her tight opposition with Uranus, then Ceres and Jupiter, outlines the creative hunger to express openly and freely the authentic embodied heart-soul in a meaningful and expressive way. She is confronting the shattered sense of buoyancy and independence, by aligning the heart of your soul with meaning, autonomy and nourishment. She is also creating a meaningful dialogue with our capability for resilience, tenacity, regeneration and sustainability, so that we can more confidently bring a soul-vision through us, enabling our hearts to feel healed and our spirit inspired and infused with heaven’s message.

The presence of the exceedingly rare Star of David is perhaps THE standout feature of her discovery chart. This very tight, albeit fleeting, configuration, opens up humanity’s consciousness to better access dimensional space through the construct of a light-spirit-body, a phenomena central to the Egyptians, Western Mystical tradition and to the Vedas of India. The fact that the ‘6’ is invoked, by five planets being in the sixth degree, with Chariklo about to step back into the 6th degree, compounds and reinforces the concept of 6 ness. This 6ness is associated with the opportunity to divinely architect reality from a deeper visionary place, and it is a harmonic that balances the Yin and Yang duality central to third dimensional living.

Dane Rudhyar’s channelled work on zodiacal degrees writes that the 6 Leo is “The constellation of stars shine’s to man’s common humanity and to all endearing archetypes”. It seems that Chariklo’s presence is that of the astral- traveller, accessing cosmic wisdom to break open the heart and spirit so that heaven can be expressed on earth, per aspora ad astra (by arduous path to the stars).

Not truly embodied within time, as the East-West cross is absent, the presence of the ethereal MC intersecting the semi-arc of the Soul above the circle of spirit, enables the invariant spirit to be fuelled with a futurist vision. It is a waning lunar arc, a close on balsamic crescent, that is depicted. This crescent is the most Yin of all the Lunar Phases, a phase that prepares us for the transition from one phase to the next; a phase that seeks to let go attachment to this plane of existence, readying itself for the next stage of life; and a phase that invokes images of the dream-time, retreat from the world and a deep exploration of the liminal world.

This crescent is penetrated by the axis of space that hints at the theme of travelling through dimension space, as opposed to within space on the Earth. Chariklo appears as a traveller of the dream-world, carrying messages that are transmitted telepathically and whose knowledge enables us to find our ‘North-star’, our direction in this world, as it carries both meaning and purpose. Anchored to this plane by one of the axes of matter, she is not truly of this world, but she hovers close to it, offering guidance for those who take time to listen.

Medicine Woman

She shows up as an ethereal female spirit guide within the dream state and within deep meditation, akin to Rhiannon within the Celtic Tradition. Her guidance illuminates the deeper emotional pain that her partner, Chiron, actively works upon, and she seems to offer a gentle insight into the pain carried within the heart and spirit. Unlike Chiron, her pain is spiritual and her longing is equally spiritual. Therefore her presence lacks physicality, but is akin to the pain carried within the Water and Fire realms, and she creates a temenos, or sacred space of sanctuary wherein the soul can release itself from the physical pain body.

She also shows herself as a female sprite, fairy or ethereal female being, with a strong, yet gentle and not overwhelming presence, transmitting knowledge through a telepathic or dream-like manner. She is non-verbal, yet her words are embodied and experienced, prompting action and confidence in a stream-of-consciousness, unfiltered expression of vision and heart.

Again in the Celtic Tradition, but this time from the Irish Celts, there a spirit woman that appears (largely to women), who has been demonised by the patriarchy and whose spirit voice has been turned, over time, into a shrill or shriek. Her name is Bane Si, but more commonly known as Banshee, she appears just beyond Saturn’s Veil, calling the spirit of those about to leave, home. She rarely materialises and she is experienced and not truly heard, as her voice is liminal, transmitted telepathically to those who have an inner ear to hear. She is neither demon nor fae, but she is a spirit lady who walks the soul into the Otherworld.

Sacred Space

The concept of sacred space is central to this Centaur, and for those whose presence she envelopes, they appear to generate an aura of serenity, compassion and graceful non-judgement that enables the soothing of the heart and spirit. This space is implied, as opposed to physically present. It is felt but not occupied, and there feels to be an innocence and lightness of those who carry her message.

Astral Travel

Though her presence within the Greek mythological tradition is scant, it is suggested that she taught her blinded son to understand the language of birds, when it became clear that his sight would never be restored. Birds have always been regarded as messengers from the higher plumes of consciousness wherein the gods reside, coupled with the indigenous beliefs that birds aid us in enabling us to move between dimensional space, given that the laws of physics do not apply beyond the 3rd realm, it appears that Chariklo has something to do with the freedom to move un- incumbent of our physical bodies.

Fascinatingly Chariklo turns up as a prominent feature in the nativities of those who write within the sci-fi genre and particularly about the movement beyond time, yet within space. This shows itself within the concept of warp drive and hyperspace in both Star Trek and Star Wars, and the Tardis in Doctor Who, the authors of which are born with a close relationship to this Centaur. Similarly writers such as Ursula Le Grin, Katherine Kerr, Stephen Spielberg, Philip K. Dick, Issac Asimov and H. G. Wells, all of whom use imagery of ‘dimensional’ travel, whether using technology or through the mind’s eye. Since Chariklo does not make it within Saturn’s orbit, it is as if her energy shows us the path beyond this realm and into the astral realm, the visions shown are disembodied and liminal or perhaps lack dimensionality but yet highlighting the path into a deeper version of this physical reality.

Number 6

The presence of the number 6 in Her discovery chart, hints at a resonance with the meaning of the 6, a number strongly linked with the Seal of Solomon, the MerKaBa field and the bee, each of which revolves around flight. The Seal of Solomon is believed to be a ‘magical’ seal owned by King Solomon of Israel and was given to the king directly by the gods with engravings within a six sided polygon, inscribed with sigils to invoke the ability to return back to the god realm.

MerKaBa

The MerKaBa light body literally means the Light-Spirit-Body from within the Egyptian mystical tradition and is a tetrahedron shaped geometrical construct used to move through dimensional space, bringing heaven to earth, and enabling the Initiate to move beyond Earth to heaven. This Light Vehicle is inaccessible within this physical plane of consciousness and is only constructed through meditation and within the hypnogogic consciousness. Advocates of the teaching of this mystical technique, like Danish mystic Lars Muhl, are born with a pronounced relationship to this Centaur.

The Star of David aspect pattern is a rare configuration that enables the planets within the pattern to connect more freely with an altered state of consciousness, opening them up to receiving a healing message and to raise the Light- body within their archetypal expression.

Application

Like all the Walkers, Charkilo shows herself as a Muse or Spirit guide and will make herself present upon calling her. Those with her intimately woven into the tapestry of their natal chart, will have felt her presence, hearing her telepathic, non-verbal voice within the element of their natal Chariklo. Her presence is to teach you how to trust the movement between dimensional space; to open your heart to a more compassionate and graceful expression; and to open up the wisdom of the stars. She also assists the healing of the invariant physical pain that Chiron illuminates, but her medicine is ethereal and spirit based, as opposed to engaging in a ritual embodied practise like Reiki or acupuncture. Therefore, her healing is that of calm presence and knowingness. Her council reveals itself in dream and in meditation. Her transits open up a liminal healing space for the disconnected aspects of the planet being transited, and her house placement opens up the path to receive the Muse.
