In our cooperation with Timelords Magazine, we share with you the column "Cosmic Cooking", which deliciously combines the art of cooking with the art of astrology. Serves all. Enjoy!

We begin our series, of the astrologer and the chef, as 2 long term friends come together in C*I*A Timelord’s Magazine’s new column. Agent 57 Peta, our much loved C*I*A Retreat chef and Julija begin this series on astro-cooking to bring the inspiration of the planets, the zodiac and the cosmic turning into our lives with the food we eat and atmosphere we create.

We begin with recipes inspired by the life giver:

The Sun

The Sun is energising, stimulating, wilful and directed. It represents vital energy the centre of creation its is the life force needed to stay healthy and strong. As all the planets revolve around our Sun so too does everything in our astrology charts. The Sun represents the primal urge for self expression and the will to exist. It represents where we strives to shine, find joy, create, and manifest our living and conscious Spirit.

The Sun represents the core of our being, the development of the ego, and the urge to reach our full potential. The Sun encourages us to evolve our consciousness, to celebrate our uniqueness, individuality and authenticity, to seek life purpose and personal fulfilment.

We can find more inspiration from the astrological SUN rulerships:

  • Sign - LEO
  • Metal - GOLD
  • Gems - AMBER, CITRINE
  • Colours - GOLD, YELLOW, ORANGE
  • In the body - The Heart and the circulatory system, the solar plexus, vitality, drive, fuel

Plants, Foods, Herbs ruled by the Sun

Flowers

Sunflower, Marigolds, Peony

To conjure up a recipe that would be fitting of our the solar energy, something that would suit the heights of summer for northern climes and as well as the throes of winter, or generally something relatively quick, easy and satisfying, that doesn't keep you tied to the stove for too long. A recipe that has a festive feel about it, that can be adapted for one or for many.

As well as the recipe, think of ways that you can embellish the environment and invoke a sunny atmosphere. Light the fire, light candles, put on uplifting music while you prepare your food, use your most exotic table settings and decorate in warm and bright sunny colours, add some Sun Marigolds, or Sunflowers, ultimately be creative with what you have to help lift the mood and enliven the spirit.

By utilising some of the foods and herbs mentioned above not all would be fitting to cook with, so adapting to one's unique tastes and pleasures is imperative to honour the Sun.

A quick an easy way to get the Sun force circulating is to make a sun infused juice to start your day, use, ginger, orange, turmeric, lemon and sweeten with maple syrup or agave - after your 12 Sun salutions of course!

Here is a recipe that fits the criteria - delicious, easy and a definite mood lifter!
